This position assists in the fabrication, building and/or erection of scaffold structures made of wood and metal by handling various tools, equipment and materials while working in conjunction with other crafts on the jobsite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Communicates with others to perform tasks.

  2. Selects proper size and type of building materials according to the project specifications and dimensions.

  3. Assists with the planning and installation, to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of the other workers.

  4. Assembles cut and shaped materials by fastening them together with nails, and / or wire.

  5. Assists with the verification of trueness of a structure using a plumb bob, carpenters level, and framing square.

  6. Assists with the erection of framework for structures and lays sub-flooring.

  7. Assists with the erection of scaffolding and ladders for the assembly of structures above ground level.

  8. Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies using proper lifting technique.

  9. May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

  10. Cleans and performs minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment.

  11. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  12. Restock supplies and materials as necessary.

  13. Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.

  14. Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work above/below ground as necessary.

  15. Perform a variety of tasks involving safe dexterous use of hand tools.

  16. Assists with the safe operation of power tools and equipment.



This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

  1. Protective Equipment: Gloves, hard-hat, protective eyewear, safety harness with lanyard, hearing protection, personal protective clothing, and hearing protection.

  2. Various long and short handled tools(e.g. sledge hammers, pry bar, framing hammer, chisel, saw, screwdriver, wrench, and pliers).

  3. Power tools(e.g. saw, drill)

  4. Tool pouch and belt.

  5. Tool box with single grip.


This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
