Field Engineer - 3D Services


Brand Industrial Services, Inc., a BrandSafway Company, is currently recruiting for a Field Engineer - 3D Services.


Support and provide key aspects of the BrandSafway 3D Services efforts to include laser scanning, drone related applications and associated project deliverables. This position will primarily support ongoing work activities of field data capture, data processing and project outputs including point cloud models, coordinate systems, and more. They will support integrating local field personnel into the execution of work, support field training efforts and perform a variety of associated activities in support of driving virtual planning, enabling field teams to use 3D services to enhance their abilities and offerings to our clients both internal and external. They will report to and support the Director of 3D Survey/Laser Scanning who is supporting the Technical Services Team and the broader BrandSafway organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

•Learn key elements of the BrandSafway field survey workflow to support the delivery of 3D data.

•Learn and support laser scanning activities in the field as a primary duty to include basic survey process, scanner operation, data capture methods, post processing of data to deliver complete laser scanning outputs.

•Support integrating 3D services into various needs of local operation teams and clients as directed.

•Learn mobile data capture solutions including drones, mobile Lidar, photogrammetry.

•Learn various software to support 3D services including scan registration, scan data publishing, CAD, etc.


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

•4 year technical degree, prefer Civil or Mechanical Engineering or GIS

•Knowledge of field survey techniques

•GIS related knowledge preferable

•Knowledge and skills working with design systems such as Autodesk CAD, Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks.

•Knowledge and or experience working with point cloud data from terrestrial laser scanning, LiDAR

•Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts and applications

•3-5 years of related experience

•Experience in a Field Services businesses is ideal

•Experience in a matrix organization


•Role will be to support our service offerings of 3D Survey

and Laser Scanning services including

•Learning and performing the basic survey workflow for

field data capture, including capturing coordinates,

working with landmarks, placing and recording scan targets

•Laser scanning operations including equipment use, data


•Laser scanning data registration and software use

•Drone operation including use of LiDAR, Photogrammetry,

and other peripherals

•Creating a variety of 3D survey outputs from a variety if software including Autodesk Recap, Aveva LFM, Leica CycloneSuperior problem solving ability

•Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data

•Strong conceptual, analytical, statistical, quantitative, and deduction skills

•Ability to troubleshoot


•Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the


•Ability to work in dynamic teams, consistent direction but

changing support and co-workers

•Good verbal and written communication skills

•Ability to present ideas, options for tasks at hand

•Demonstrated success in motivating & leading teams in a

matrix environment

•Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access

•Proficiency with CAD based systems

•Experience with survey concepts, GIS approaches

•Familiarity with CAD based software platforms

•Solid understanding of System Development Life Cycle
