Job Summary

The Service Center Manager will establish and operate regional service centers performing routine inspection and repair of suspend scaffolding equipment. The manager will direct the day-to-day activities of the service technicians and staff in coordination with supported branches to achieve ready line objectives, quality, cost and schedule required to meet production goals

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Plan service operations and job duties and communicate to personnel their role in the service production plan.

  • Work with fleet management to establish ready line requirements, schedules which most effectively achieve on-time delivery of orders and to maintain safety stock levels.

  • Evaluate service methods, tooling requirements and working conditions to help identify and resolve problems that effect productivity. Work with engineering and product support to establish effective work instructions and improve service productivity.

  • Identify technical training needs of staff and provide on-the-job training, as well as formal classroom training.

  • Audit the quality of workmanship and the conformance of products to standards. Ensure that high quality standards are maintained in all service operations.

  • Monitor work practices and equipment condition to ensure maintenance of a safe work environment throughout the service facility.

  • Evaluate and recommend personnel actions for promotion, transfer, disciplinary action and staffing to meet production objectives in accordance with company policy and procedure.

  • Administer performance evaluations for technicians & administrative staff. Sets and communicates individual goals. Provides regular feedback on the performance to direct reports. Documents achievement and deficiencies as deemed appropriate.

  • Assist in review of work flow and estimated labor costs required and that service documents are maintained as required by company procedure.

  • Responsible for inventory management, scheduling, recalls, service problems, procurement of supplies, etc.

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all service paperwork.

  • Direct supervision of the administrative staff.

  • With an approved purchase order or requisition, order material from vendors or manufacturing. Ensure that adequate inventory levels are maintained. Develop and maintain accurate counts on new and rental equipment, by organizing and participating in physical inventory counts.

  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned or directed.

    Qualifications & Requirements

Qualified candidates shall have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented by apprenticeship program or technical training.

  • 10 years of experience in a service environment with 5 years in a managerial role.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with several other departments and individuals.

  • Ability to solve complex problems.

  • Past experience with JD Edwards and Microsoft Products preferred
