Brand Scaffolding Services, a BrandSafway company, has an established business strategy to maintain and grow market share worldwide in key Industrial and Commercial markets, primarily with Fortune 1000 companies. The company serves Industrial and Commercial construction markets through key business units such as Industrial Scaffolding, Commercial Scaffolding, Concrete Construction, Insulation, Carpentry, Special Events and Safety Services. The company is searching for two Senior Accountants to support the West Region – 1 st position located Northern California and the 2 nd position located in Southern California, which currently consists of 13 operating divisions and is growing revenue through acquisition and organic opportunities.


Responsible for the finance and accounting operations of the Western Region including the monthly close process, certain industrial and commercial billing functions, implementation of corporate accounting policies, balance sheet analysis, account reconciliations, and ensure appropriate systems/processes are in place to support the continued expansion of the business. In addition, this individual will be responsible for a significant amount of internal management and internal reporting and analysis.


The Staff Accountant will support the Controller with the month end close process, financial analysis and reporting. In addition, this individual will be responsible for management of certain area finance functions. The role involves the following responsibilities:

  • Support the Southwest accounting functions, including general accounting, financial controls and financial reporting.

  • Support role in monthly close process to include; journal entry preparation, tie out to sub-ledgers, and account reconciliations.

  • Analysis and review of job cost results and review of payroll to bill reconciliations for the areas.

  • Lead role in preparing month end balance sheet reconciliation for multiple divisions.

  • Manage Owner Controlled Insurance Program(“OCIP”) related reporting requirements.

  • Preparation and filing of various taxes and fees.

  • Prepare month-end financial results for Area management teams

  • Review and analyze the area’s financial progress, comparing results with approved plans and assist in forecasting operating results.

  • Support role in the preparation of the annual operating plans and periodic forecasts for the areas.

  • Remain current with new accounting technical standards impacting financial reporting. Support implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

  • Support the preparation of financial data and information to be presented or discussed with region management and other internal parties.

  • Coordinate customer contracts between various internal departments.

  • Perform project close-outs to include contract audits and close-out of administrative items.

  • Oversee the work of other AR staff, assign work, address complaints, resolve issues and provide training on AR activities to include; credit approval, review of credit information and addressing credit issues.

  • Ensure compliance with Accounting chart of accounts.

  • Answer vendor inquires related to AP matters and reconcile discrepancies. Research and provide answers to vendor and/or internal AP customers.

  • Process contracts for indemnification review and submit certificates of insurance and OCIP requests.

  • Job cost duties to include; maintaining spreadsheets, creating and closing job numbers, and ensuring accuracy of job cost data.

  • Support Sarbanes Oxley compliance process including the development and implementation of the procedures necessary to achieve certification.

  • Maintain compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and thorough documentation of journal entries.

  • Support the preparation of financial data and information to be presented or discussed with management and coordinate external audits as it pertains to the area.Coordinates the implementation of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls of the company.


The ideal candidate should have at least 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, ideally with a medium to large sized global company with multiple business units/divisions. Technically adept in areas of accounting and financial management, including management reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and compliance with SEC and/US GAAP regulations. Technically adept in all areas of accounting processes and procedures, financial management, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will be a combination of business person and financial accounting expert; while the bulk of the day to day responsibilities will be focused specifically on financial activities. He/she will have the interpersonal skills to bring teams together in pursuit of common business goals. Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills; should be able to credibly influence operational staff as well as senior management. This candidate must demonstrate commitment, confidence and a sense of urgency in support of achieving the Company’s goals.


Degree in related field is preferred, though not required.

Must have a minimum 2 – 5 years direct experience in a finance-related position.
