Job: Payroll/Accounting Clerk

Reports to : Branch Manager Department : Field Operations

Classification: Overtime Ineligible Location: Branch Office


The Multi-Branch Operations Analyst performs a variety of finance and operations tasksto positively affect productivity, labor margin, and profit.


  • Perform accounting activities such as reviewing financial statements, general ledger comparison, preparing periodic operating reports.

  • Analyzes business operation and flow and recommends improvements for efficiency.

  • Maintains accurate job cost records and analyzes actual vs. budgeted cost, and advices branch manager on projects requiring additional attention.

  • Understands month-end accounting close process and submits entries for approval to close out each month.

  • Review and analyze monthly financial and operating reports and report findings back to the Branch Manager, as well as Regional and Corporate management.

  • May oversee or supervise the work of other office staff, assign work, address complaints, resolve issues and provide training in: Billing, Procurement and AP activities.

  • Processes weekly payroll for field employees in a primary or backup role.

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with Accounting chart of accounts.

  • Reviews new customer contracts for acceptable terms and conditions and assures that the scope of work agrees with the company‚Äôs proposals.

  • Participate in Annual Operating Plan(AOP) and periodic forecasting.

  • Provide financial analyses as needed and audit data as requested.

  • Provide financial variance analyses as needed and audit data as requested.

  • Analyzes asset management and utilization of rental assets.

  • Minimal travel to other branch operations.

  • Detailed understanding of products, customers, competitors and market.



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to performeach essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • More than 3 years of Accounting / Finance experience.

  • It is desirable for the incumbent to have previous experience in the construction industry.

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication, skills to effectively communicate with employees, customers, and personnel at other branch offices and Corporate office.

  • Requires ability to process complex time sensitive data and information from multiple sources, make decisions based on this data, and to effectively communicate the related required actions to customers and staff.

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of word and excel, and business related operations software is preferred.

  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire and coach employees to accomplish strategic goals and related tasks is preferred.

  • Knowledge of a payroll system(Ceridian, Kronos, etc) is required. Knowledge of union compensation plans is helpful but not required.

  • Financial Management work experience, including Job Cost and P&L is preferred.

  • Requires strong analytical ability with an understanding of job productivity and profitability.
